[Included below is a message cc:'d by John Delacour to Frontier-Central. Although it does not directly relate to using Chinese within Frontier, John does mention using Frontier to enhance Chinese input in the future.--Editor]
Date: Sat, 16 Aug 1997 16:06:35 +0100 My Cihui project has been dormant for about a year and a half while other projects took precedence I am delighted to announce that I have finally uploaded all the current Cihui Chinese input software and a very small amount of info to my site at http://www.eremita.demon.co.uk/cihui.html This comprises so far:
o FEP Front End Processor with two basic dictionaries and extensions If you take the very little time it takes to learn Chinput, you will find that you can input Chinese at I guess about three times the speed you can write English, even if you are a fast typist. Using pinyin I guess about twice as fast as English. It will help of course to know Chinese before you make the comparison! Please have a look and let me know what you think, what other things you would like me to make available and any errors you come acxross in my dictionaries. The bundled dictionaries are there simply to get you started. I shall not deal with any of the many errors in these since the large dictionaries have absorbed these and many errors have been corrected. I have not time to work on the GB dictionary. Maybe one day, but I can't think when. Personally I dislike the simplified characters and now the computer has come of age I see no reason for their existence, so you can guess how keen I shall be. I shall be working on AppleScript, Frontier and OneClick scripts and palettes to simplify and enhance Chinese input and will announce these when they are ready. Details of how to use Eudora 3+ with Chinese will also be posted there when the time is right
