Filemaker and FrontierWhere can I find resources for scripting Filemaker with Frontier? The following is an edited email I sent to someone asking about Filemaker stuff...This information is good if you are scripting Filemaker with Frontier on a Macintosh computer. Getting Started The best place to start with Frontier and Filemaker is this site: http://www.ranchero.com/frontier/filemaker/ It talks about 'Glue' and 'FilemakerLib': you should note that those products are now standard parts of the Frontier root database. A 'Glue' table is a table of scripts that help Frontier communicate with another piece of software. The rachero.com site also has a page of related links. Example Suites Another site is run by Preston Holmes: http://132.239.112.155/preston/scripting/frontier.html His site has two items of interest: A Filemaker/Frontier CGI tutorial, which I found helpful, though a bit advanced. He also has a Mail2FM suite, a suite that archives Eudora mail into a Filemaker database. Although it might take a while, digging through his code would really show you how to get data back and forth from Filemaker into Frontier. Seeing examples of a working application with Filemaker and Frontier will help you start scripting Filemaker data into your websites. My Advice I think checking out the FilemakerLib verbs is the most valuable place to start experimenting. After that, I would walk through the system.verbs.apps.Filemaker.examples table and check out those samples. Then I would make a small test database, with maybe two fields, and practice moving data in and out of Filemaker from Frontier. Good luck! HTH PS
