July 1998 Meeting

The Bay Area Frontier Users Group is proud to announce its first meeting.

WHAT: July Meeting
WHEN: Wednesday, July 22, 1998
WHERE: San Francisco
BEGINS AT: 7 p.m.

Location

The meeting will be held at the offices of Organic Online (view map), which is located in SOMA, at 510 Third Street. It's right across from South Park.

Thanks to Dave Humphreys and John Belew at Organic, who are our hosts.

Parking, Getting to the Meeting & Food

This from Dave Humphreys about the meeting:

As far as parking goes, there's usually a fair amount of free street parking available at that time of night. There's also a parking lot right up the street (3rd and Bryant, I think) that offers $3 night parking. It's one of those 'honor system' parking lots, so if you want to take your chances, you can. They tack on about a $2 surcharge if they find you cheating.

"We will be meeting in the "Penthouse" -- Organic's roof-level meeting room. It ain't swanky, but it'll probably do.

To get there, get to the office, and go up to the 5th floor. (You'll probably run into the doorman, Scott. I'll make sure that he expects a bunch of folks.) Depending on which elevator you take, you'll either wind up right in front of the Organic door, or you'll have to follow the signs to the Organic door. As you look at the door, there are some stairs up to the right. Walk up those stairs. You'll get to the roof level. There are two doors there -- one leads to the outside, and one leads to the meeting room.

There's a little market right across the street that has a lot of chips and soda and whatnot.

There's also a Max's about two long blocks up Third that might make for a great "after meeting" place. I think they're open until 11 or so, and they've got big booths and a wide selection of food. They're a little expensive, but they're generous (perhaps overly so) with their portions.

Proposed Agenda

Since this is the first meeting, the agenda is pretty loose, but here's an idea of what we might do:

  1. Introductions
  2. Discussion - 'How I use Frontier'
  3. Demo - (maybe blox, HALO, newsCenter)
  4. Break/Snack
  5. Questions and Answers

If you can come, please let me know what you'd like to see on the agenda--what topics or projects you'd like to discuss. Anything you'd like to see demo'd?

You may want to bring a couple dollars to cover snacks, and people may go out afterwards for a bite.

RSVP

Finally, please let me know if you are coming. I'd like to have some idea of how many to expect. Thanks.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. See ya there!

Phil

(btw if anyone is coming from South Bay, I may need a ride back... )
